SWAKOPMUND

Swakopmund is a beautiful Namibian coastal town with seaside promenades, palm trees and German colonial buildings. Located on the edge of the Namib Desert.

Swakopmund was founded in 1892 by Germans. Even today you can see many German colonial buildings in the town, including Hohenzollern Haus, Woermann Haus and the Old Provincial Court. There are also several interesting museums in the city, including Swakopmund Museum and the Kristall Gallery. Built in 1902, the lighthouse in Palm Beach area is the landmark of Swakopmund. What comes to shopping there are several small shops in the town centre where you can buy for example souvenirs and art.

Safety - Swakopmund can be regarded as a safe destination. As pick-pocketing and robberies may occur it is advisable to keep your valuables hidden.

Swakopmund has a quiet nightlife. However, there are a few bars and a casino in the town centre.
